Tenure Track
Tenure track is a career path in academia that leads to a permanent position, known as tenure, at a college or university. Faculty members on this track typically start as assistant professors and must demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, and service over a probationary period, usually lasting six to seven years.
During this time, they are evaluated on their performance, and successful candidates are promoted to associate professor with tenure. Achieving tenure provides job security and academic freedom, allowing faculty to pursue innovative research and teaching methods without fear of dismissal.
