Tayassuidae
The family Tayassuidae includes a group of hoofed mammals commonly known as peccaries. These animals are native to the Americas, primarily found in regions ranging from the southwestern United States to South America. Peccaries resemble pigs but belong to a distinct family and are known for their social behavior, often living in groups.
Peccaries are omnivorous, feeding on a variety of plants, fruits, and small animals. There are three main species: the collared peccary, the white-lipped peccary, and the Chacoan peccary. They play an important role in their ecosystems by aiding in seed dispersal and maintaining plant diversity.
