Tassie Devil
The Tassie Devil, or Tasmanian Devil, is a carnivorous marsupial native to Tasmania, an island state of Australia. It is known for its stocky build, black fur, and distinctive vocalizations, which include growls and screeches. The species is primarily nocturnal and feeds on small animals, carrion, and insects.
Once widespread across mainland Australia, the Tassie Devil is now mostly found in the wild in Tasmania due to habitat loss and disease. The population has been significantly affected by a contagious cancer known as Devil Facial Tumor Disease (DFTD), which has led to conservation efforts to protect this unique species.
