Target Language
The term "Target Language" refers to the specific language that a learner aims to acquire or improve. In language learning contexts, it is the language being studied, as opposed to the learner's native language, known as the Source Language. For example, if a person whose native language is English is learning Spanish, then Spanish is the target language.
In educational settings, the target language is often used in instruction to immerse students in real-life communication. This approach helps learners develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing within the context of the target language, enhancing their overall fluency and comprehension.
