Tamazight is a branch of the Berber languages, which are part of the larger Afro-Asiatic language family. It is primarily spoken by the Berber people in regions of North Africa, including Morocco, Algeria, and parts of Tunisia. Tamazight has several dialects, reflecting the diverse cultures and communities of its speakers.
In 2001, Tamazight was recognized as an official language in Morocco, promoting its use in education and media. The language has its own script, known as Tifinagh, which has ancient origins. Efforts to preserve and promote Tamazight continue, highlighting its cultural significance.
