Taino Language
The Taino language is an extinct Arawakan language that was spoken by the Taino people, indigenous inhabitants of the Caribbean, particularly in areas like Hispaniola and Puerto Rico. It was part of the larger Arawakan language family, which includes several languages spoken in South America and the Caribbean.
Although the Taino language is no longer spoken, it has influenced modern languages, especially Spanish and English, contributing words related to local flora, fauna, and culture. Examples include terms like "hammock" and "barbecue," which have their origins in the Taino language.
