Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary is located in Sierra Leone and was established in 1995 to protect and rehabilitate orphaned and abused chimpanzees. The sanctuary spans over 100 acres of lush forest, providing a natural habitat for the chimpanzees to thrive. It aims to educate the public about the importance of wildlife conservation and the challenges faced by these primates.
The sanctuary is home to over 100 chimpanzees, many of whom have been rescued from illegal wildlife trade or human conflict. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the sanctuary's efforts in animal welfare and conservation, as well as the ongoing challenges of protecting wildlife in Africa.
