Tabot
A Tabot is a sacred object in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, representing the Ark of the Covenant. It is typically made of wood and is intricately decorated, symbolizing the presence of God. Each Tabot is associated with a specific saint or biblical figure and is housed in a church's altar.
During religious ceremonies, particularly on Timkat (the Ethiopian Epiphany), the Tabot is taken out in a procession. Worshippers celebrate with prayers, songs, and rituals, reflecting their deep reverence for this holy object. The Tabot serves as a focal point for faith and community in Ethiopian culture.
