TIR Convention
The TIR Convention, officially known as the Customs Convention on the International Transport of Goods under Cover of TIR Carnets, is an international agreement that simplifies and secures the transport of goods across borders. It allows for the use of a TIR carnet, a customs document that enables goods to be transported without undergoing customs checks at every border, provided they are sealed in a secure vehicle.
Established in 1975 under the auspices of the United Nations, the TIR Convention aims to facilitate international trade and enhance the efficiency of cross-border transport. It is particularly beneficial for road transport companies, as it reduces delays and costs associated with customs procedures, promoting smoother trade flows between countries.
