T2-weighted Images
T2-weighted images are a type of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan that highlights differences in tissue water content. In these images, fluids appear bright, making it easier to identify abnormalities such as tumors, inflammation, or edema. This contrast helps radiologists assess various conditions in the body.
The technique works by measuring the time it takes for protons in water molecules to return to their equilibrium state after being disturbed by a magnetic field. T2-weighted images are particularly useful for examining the brain, spinal cord, and joints, providing valuable information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
