Tết, or Tết Nguyên Đán, is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year and the most important celebration in Vietnam. It marks the arrival of spring based on the lunar calendar, usually falling between late January and mid-February. Families honor their ancestors, clean their homes, and prepare special foods to welcome the new year and bring good luck.
During Tết, people often decorate their homes with peach blossoms in the north and yellow apricot blossoms in the south. Traditional foods like bánh chưng and bánh tét are made and shared. The holiday is a time for family reunions, paying respects to ancestors, and wishing for prosperity in the coming year.
