Synodic Month
A Synodic Month is the time it takes for the Moon to return to the same phase, such as from one full moon to the next. This period lasts about 29.53 days. It is measured from one new moon to the next, reflecting the Moon's orbit around the Earth and the Earth's orbit around the Sun.
The term "synodic" comes from the Greek word meaning "to meet." This month is longer than the Sidereal Month, which is about 27.3 days and measures the Moon's orbit relative to distant stars. The difference arises because the Earth is also moving in its orbit around the Sun.
