Sydney funnel-web spider
The Sydney funnel-web spider is a large, venomous spider native to eastern Australia, particularly around Sydney. It is known for its distinctive funnel-shaped web, which it uses to trap prey. These spiders are typically black or dark brown and can grow up to 5 centimeters in body length.
The venom of the Sydney funnel-web spider is highly toxic to humans, but antivenom is available and effective. They are most active during the warmer months and are often found in gardens, forests, and under rocks. Despite their fearsome reputation, they generally avoid human contact.
