Syarif Hidayatullah
Syarif Hidayatullah, also known as Sunan Gunung Jati, was a prominent figure in the spread of Islam in Indonesia, particularly in the region of West Java. He is recognized as one of the nine saints, or Wali Songo, who played a crucial role in the Islamization of the Indonesian archipelago during the 15th and 16th centuries.
Born in 1448, Syarif Hidayatullah was a descendant of Sultan Hasanuddin of Banten and was known for his efforts in promoting Islamic teachings and establishing Islamic schools. His legacy continues to influence the cultural and religious landscape of Indonesia today.
