Super Audio CD
Super Audio CD (SACD) is a high-resolution audio format developed by Sony and Philips. It was introduced in 1999 to provide superior sound quality compared to standard CDs. SACDs use a different encoding method called DSD (Direct Stream Digital), which captures audio with greater detail and a wider dynamic range.
SACDs can contain both high-resolution audio tracks and standard CD tracks, allowing compatibility with regular CD players. However, to fully experience the enhanced audio quality, a dedicated SACD player is recommended. This format is popular among audiophiles who seek a richer listening experience.
