Sunni communities
Sunni communities represent the largest branch of Islam, comprising about 85-90% of the global Muslim population. They follow the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as recorded in the Hadith and emphasize the importance of the Sunna, or the practices of the Prophet. Sunni Muslims believe in a community-based approach to leadership, which is why they do not have a formal clergy like the Shia branch.
Sunni communities are diverse and can be found worldwide, from the Middle East to Southeast Asia and North Africa. They practice various interpretations of Islamic law and engage in different cultural traditions, reflecting the local customs and histories of their regions. This diversity contributes to the rich tapestry of Sunni beliefs and practices.
