Sumner Class Destroyer
The Sumner Class Destroyer was a class of naval warships built for the United States Navy during World War II. Designed for anti-submarine warfare and fleet escort duties, these destroyers were known for their speed and firepower. They typically featured a displacement of around 2,400 tons and were equipped with torpedoes, guns, and depth charges.
A total of 105 ships were constructed in this class, with the first commissioned in 1943. The Sumner Class played a significant role in various naval battles, contributing to the success of the Allied forces. Their design influenced later destroyer classes, including the Gearing Class Destroyer.
