Sultan Moulay Ismail
Sultan Moulay Ismail was a prominent ruler of Morocco who reigned from 1672 to 1727. He is known for his efforts to consolidate power and expand the Moroccan empire. His reign was marked by significant military campaigns and the construction of impressive architectural projects, including the city of Meknes, which he transformed into a grand capital.
Moulay Ismail was also notable for his strong leadership style and his ability to maintain control over various tribes and regions within Morocco. He is often remembered for his harsh treatment of enemies and his use of a large army, which included the famous Black Guard, composed of enslaved sub-Saharan Africans.
