Sulfur Oxides
Sulfur oxides are a group of chemical compounds that consist of sulfur and oxygen. The most common types are sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and sulfur trioxide (SO₃). These gases are primarily produced from burning fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, and can also come from volcanic eruptions.
When released into the atmosphere, sulfur oxides can contribute to air pollution and form acid rain, which can harm ecosystems, buildings, and human health. Monitoring and reducing sulfur oxide emissions is important for improving air quality and protecting the environment.
