Strong Bases
A strong base is a substance that completely dissociates in water to produce hydroxide ions (OH⁻). This means that when a strong base is dissolved in water, it releases a large number of hydroxide ions, resulting in a high pH level. Common examples of strong bases include sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and potassium hydroxide (KOH).
Strong bases are often used in various applications, such as cleaning products and industrial processes. They can neutralize acids, making them useful in chemical reactions. However, strong bases can be corrosive and should be handled with care to avoid skin and eye irritation.
