Straw Man
A "Straw Man" is a common argumentative technique where someone misrepresents or oversimplifies another person's argument to make it easier to attack. Instead of addressing the actual point, the person creates a distorted version of the argument, which is often easier to refute. This tactic can lead to misunderstandings and distract from the real issues being discussed.
For example, if Person A advocates for environmental regulations to protect wildlife, Person B might respond by saying, "Person A wants to shut down all businesses." This response does not accurately reflect Person A's position and instead attacks a weaker version of the argument, making it a classic case of the Straw Man fallacy.
