Stomatopoda
Stomatopoda, commonly known as mantis shrimp, are marine crustaceans found in tropical and subtropical waters. They are known for their vibrant colors and complex eyes, which can see polarized light and detect a wider range of colors than humans. Mantis shrimp have a unique body structure, featuring a segmented abdomen and powerful claws used for hunting and defense.
These creatures are divided into two main groups: smashers and slicers. Smashers have club-like appendages that can strike with incredible speed, while slicers possess sharp claws for cutting prey. Mantis shrimp play an important role in their ecosystems, contributing to the balance of marine life.
