Steve Goodman
Steve Goodman was an American folk singer-songwriter born on July 25, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known for his storytelling style and his ability to blend humor with poignant themes in his music. Goodman's most famous songs include “City of New Orleans,” which was later popularized by Arlo Guthrie, and “You Never Even Called Me by My Name,” which became a hit for David Allan Coe.
Throughout his career, Goodman released several albums and gained a loyal following. He was also a talented guitarist and performed with notable artists such as John Prine and Bonnie Raitt. Despite battling leukemia for much of his life, Goodman continued to perform until his death on September 20, 1984.
