Stephen of Rome
Stephen of Rome, also known as Saint Stephen, is recognized as the first Christian martyr. He was one of the seven deacons appointed by the apostles to help with the distribution of food and aid to the needy in the early Christian community. His preaching and miracles attracted attention, leading to his arrest.
Stephen was tried before the Sanhedrin, where he delivered a powerful speech about the history of Israel and the rejection of God's messengers. He was ultimately stoned to death, making him a significant figure in Christian history and a symbol of faith and sacrifice.
