Stephen III of Moldavia
Stephen III of Moldavia, also known as Stephen the Great, was a ruler of the Principality of Moldavia from 1457 to 1504. He is celebrated for his military prowess and successful defense against the Ottoman Empire, as well as for his efforts to strengthen Moldavia's independence. His reign is marked by numerous battles, including the notable victory at the Battle of Valea Albă in 1476.
Stephen III was also a patron of the arts and religion, commissioning many churches and monasteries, which contributed to the cultural development of the region. His legacy is remembered in Romanian history, and he is often regarded as a national hero for his dedication to Moldavian sovereignty and identity.
