Stephanie Kwolek
Stephanie Kwolek was an American chemist best known for inventing Kevlar, a strong and lightweight synthetic fiber. Born on July 31, 1923, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, she earned a degree in chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University.
