Static Contraction
Static contraction refers to a type of muscle contraction where the muscle generates force without changing its length. This occurs when a muscle is activated but does not shorten or lengthen, such as when holding a weight in a fixed position. This type of contraction is important for maintaining posture and stability.
In contrast to dynamic contractions, where muscles shorten or lengthen during movement, static contractions help build strength and endurance. Activities like planks or wall sits are common examples of static contractions, as they require muscles to engage without any visible movement.
