State Supreme Court
The State Supreme Court is the highest court within a U.S. state judicial system. It primarily hears appeals from lower courts, ensuring that laws are interpreted and applied correctly. The decisions made by the State Supreme Court are final and can only be reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court in specific cases involving federal law.
Each State Supreme Court is composed of a group of judges, often called justices, who are appointed or elected depending on the state’s laws. These justices review cases that may involve constitutional issues, significant legal questions, or disputes between lower courts.
