Standardbreds
Standardbreds are a breed of horse primarily known for their speed and endurance in harness racing. They are characterized by their strong, muscular build and a calm temperament, making them suitable for both racing and recreational riding. Standardbreds typically stand between 14.2 and 16.2 hands high and come in various colors, including bay, brown, and black.
Originally developed in the United States in the 19th century, Standardbreds are descendants of Thoroughbreds and Morgan horses. They are trained to race at a specific gait, either trotting or pacing, which distinguishes them from other horse breeds. Their versatility also allows them to excel in various equestrian disciplines beyond racing.
