Staining
Staining is a process used to enhance the visibility of structures in biological samples, often in microscopy. It involves applying a dye or chemical that binds to specific components, such as proteins or nucleic acids, allowing them to stand out against the background. Common stains include Hematoxylin and Eosin, which are frequently used in histology to differentiate between various tissue types.
In addition to biological applications, staining is also used in materials science and art. For example, wood staining enhances the natural grain and color of the wood, while fabric dyes change the appearance of textiles. Each type of stain is designed for specific materials and purposes.
