Stag Beetle
The stag beetle is a type of insect belonging to the family Lucanidae. Known for their large mandibles, which resemble the antlers of a stag, these beetles are often found in wooded areas. They can vary in size, with some species reaching up to 15 centimeters in length. Stag beetles are primarily nocturnal and are attracted to light.
These beetles undergo a complete metamorphosis, starting as eggs, then larvae, pupae, and finally emerging as adults. The larvae typically feed on decaying wood, which helps in the decomposition process. Stag beetles are harmless to humans and play a vital role in their ecosystems.
