St. Peter Martyr
St. Peter Martyr, also known as Saint Peter of Verona, was a 13th-century Italian priest and martyr. Born in 1205, he became a member of the Order of Preachers, commonly known as the Dominicans. He dedicated his life to preaching and combating heresy, particularly against the Cathar movement in northern Italy.
Peter was known for his strong faith and commitment to the Church. He was assassinated in 1252 by agents of the heretics he opposed. His death made him a martyr, and he was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1255. His feast day is celebrated on April 29.
