St. Mary's Lighthouse
St. Mary's Lighthouse is located on St. Mary's Island in Whitley Bay, England. Built in 1898, it stands 37 meters tall and was designed to guide ships safely into the River Tyne. The lighthouse features a distinctive white tower with a red top and is surrounded by tidal waters.
The lighthouse was automated in 1984 and is no longer manned. Visitors can explore the island during low tide, walking across a causeway. The site is popular for its scenic views and is part of a nature reserve, making it a great spot for birdwatching and enjoying coastal walks.
