St. Johann Nepomuk
St. Johann Nepomuk is a Christian saint and martyr, known as the patron saint of bridges, confessors, and the deaf. He was born in the late 14th century in Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic. St. Johann is celebrated for his commitment to the sacrament of confession and his refusal to disclose the secrets of the confessional, which ultimately led to his execution.
His feast day is observed on May 16, and he is often depicted in art with a halo of five stars, symbolizing his reputation for holiness. Statues and shrines dedicated to St. Johann Nepomuk can be found throughout Europe, particularly in Germany and Austria.
