St. Jerome was a Christian scholar and translator who lived in the late 4th and early 5th centuries. He is best known for his translation of the Bible into Latin, known as the Vulgate. This work made the scriptures more accessible to people in the Western Roman Empire and had a lasting impact on Christianity.
Jerome was also a prominent figure in early Christian thought, known for his writings on theology and his fierce defense of the faith. He spent much of his life in Bethlehem, where he dedicated himself to study and prayer, becoming a key figure in the development of Christian literature.
