St. Elijah
St. Elijah, also known as Elijah the Prophet, is a significant figure in the Abrahamic religions, particularly in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. He is known for his role as a prophet in the Hebrew Bible, where he defended the worship of the God of Israel against the worship of the Canaanite deity Baal. His life is marked by miraculous events, including his ascension to heaven in a whirlwind.
In Christian tradition, St. Elijah is often associated with the Transfiguration of Jesus, where he appears alongside Moses. He is also venerated as a saint in various Christian denominations, and his feast day is celebrated on different dates, including July 20 in the Eastern Orthodox Church and July 21 in the Roman Catholic Church.
