St. Catherine of Siena
St. Catherine of Siena was a 14th-century Italian mystic and a member of the Dominican Order. Born in 1347 in Siena, Italy, she is known for her deep spiritual insights and commitment to the Catholic Church. Catherine played a significant role in the politics of her time, advocating for peace and reform within the Church.
She is best known for her writings, particularly her letters and the spiritual treatise titled The Dialogue. In 1970, she was declared a Doctor of the Church, recognizing her contributions to theology and spirituality. St. Catherine is also the patron saint of Italy and of nurses.
