Sport Pilot License
A Sport Pilot License (SPL) is a type of pilot certification that allows individuals to fly light-sport aircraft. To obtain an SPL, a pilot must complete a minimum of 20 hours of flight training, including at least 15 hours with an instructor and 5 hours of solo flight. The license is designed for recreational flying and has specific limitations, such as restrictions on flying at night and carrying passengers.
To qualify for a Sport Pilot License, applicants must be at least 17 years old and pass a medical exam or hold a valid driver's license. The SPL is a more accessible option for those who want to enjoy flying without the extensive training required for higher-level licenses, such as the Private Pilot License.
