Spoonbridge and Cherry
Spoonbridge and Cherry is a large public fountain located in Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Designed by artist Claes Oldenburg and his wife, Coosje van Bruggen, it features a giant spoon that holds a bright red cherry. The fountain was installed in 1988 and has become an iconic symbol of the city.
The sculpture is made of stainless steel and is approximately 50 feet long. Water flows from the cherry, creating a playful and whimsical effect. Spoonbridge and Cherry is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, often serving as a backdrop for photos and community events.
