Spix's Macaw
Spix's Macaw is a small blue parrot native to Brazil, specifically the Brazilian state of Bahia. It is known for its vibrant blue feathers and distinctive yellow eye rings. This bird primarily inhabits the Brazilian gallery forests along the Rio São Francisco.
Unfortunately, Spix's Macaw is considered extinct in the wild, with the last confirmed sighting occurring in 2000. Conservation efforts are ongoing to reintroduce captive-bred individuals back into their natural habitat. The species is a symbol of the importance of wildlife conservation and the need to protect endangered species.
