Spinalis Cervicis
The Spinalis Cervicis is a muscle located in the neck region, part of the larger group known as the erector spinae. It plays a crucial role in supporting and stabilizing the cervical spine, which consists of the upper seven vertebrae. This muscle helps in extending the neck and maintaining an upright posture.
Originating from the spinous processes of the upper thoracic vertebrae, the Spinalis Cervicis inserts into the spinous processes of the cervical vertebrae. It works in conjunction with other muscles in the spinalis group, including the Spinalis Thoracis and Spinalis Capitis, to facilitate movement and provide structural support to the spine.
