Spelling Rules
Spelling rules are guidelines that help us write words correctly. They often involve patterns, such as adding suffixes or prefixes. For example, when adding the suffix –ing to a verb, we usually drop the final e in words like “make” to form “making.”
Another common rule is the i before e rule, which states that in most cases, “i” comes before “e” in words like “believe” and “achieve,” except after the letter c, as in “receive.” These rules help improve our spelling and make writing clearer.
