Speciesism
Speciesism is the belief that one species, typically humans, is superior to others, leading to the discrimination against non-human animals. This concept suggests that the interests and rights of animals are often overlooked or undervalued compared to those of humans, resulting in practices like factory farming and animal testing.
Critics of speciesism argue that it is a form of prejudice similar to racism or sexism, as it involves assigning different values to beings based on their species. Advocates for animal rights, such as Peter Singer, promote the idea that all sentient beings deserve consideration and respect, regardless of their species.
