Spatial Neglect
Spatial Neglect is a neurological condition that occurs when a person fails to notice or respond to stimuli on one side of their body or environment. This often happens after a stroke or brain injury, particularly affecting the right hemisphere, which can lead to neglect of the left side. Individuals may ignore food on one side of their plate or fail to recognize people approaching from that side.
People with Spatial Neglect may also have difficulty with tasks that require attention to both sides, such as reading or driving. Treatment often involves rehabilitation strategies to help patients regain awareness and improve their ability to interact with their surroundings.
