Soyuz 1
Soyuz 1 was a Soviet space mission launched on April 23, 1967. It was the first crewed flight of the Soyuz spacecraft, carrying cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov. The mission aimed to test the spacecraft's systems and conduct scientific experiments in low Earth orbit.
Tragically, Soyuz 1 ended in disaster when the spacecraft crashed upon re-entry on April 24, 1967, due to a parachute failure. This incident marked a significant setback for the Soviet space program and highlighted the risks associated with human spaceflight. Komarov became the first human to die during a space mission.
