South Carolina Legislature
The South Carolina Legislature is the legislative body of the state of South Carolina, responsible for making laws and setting policies. It is a bicameral institution, consisting of two chambers: the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate. Members of the House serve two-year terms, while Senators serve four-year terms.
The Legislature meets annually in Columbia, the state capital, typically starting in January. During sessions, lawmakers discuss and vote on various issues, including budgets, education, and public safety. The Governor of South Carolina can also influence legislation through vetoes and recommendations.
