South Australian Legislative Council
The South Australian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of South Australia. It plays a crucial role in the legislative process, reviewing and amending proposed laws. Members of the Council, known as MLCs, are elected to represent various regions of the state.
The Council consists of 22 members who serve a fixed term of four years. It operates alongside the lower house, the House of Assembly, to ensure a balanced approach to governance. The Legislative Council also holds the government accountable through debates and inquiries, contributing to the democratic process in South Australia.
