Sorex
Sorex is a genus of small mammals commonly known as shrews. These creatures are part of the family Soricidae and are characterized by their pointed snouts, small eyes, and a dense coat of fur. Shrews are found in various habitats, including forests, grasslands, and wetlands, and they primarily feed on insects and other invertebrates.
There are over 30 species of Sorex, with the Eurasian water shrew and the American pygmy shrew being notable examples. Shrews are known for their high metabolism, which requires them to eat frequently. Despite their small size, they play an important role in controlling insect populations in their ecosystems.
