Sole (Foot)
The sole of the foot is the bottom part that makes contact with the ground when standing or walking. It consists of skin, fat, and connective tissue, providing cushioning and support. The sole is divided into three main areas: the heel, the arch, and the ball of the foot.
The sole plays a crucial role in balance and movement. It contains many sensory receptors that help the body detect pressure and texture. Additionally, the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue, runs along the sole, supporting the arch and aiding in walking and running.
