Solar Time Measurement
Solar time measurement is based on the position of the Sun in the sky. It is determined by observing the Sun's highest point, known as solar noon, which occurs when the Sun is directly overhead. This method reflects the natural cycle of day and night, providing a straightforward way to track time using the Earth's rotation.
There are two main types of solar time: apparent solar time and mean solar time. Apparent solar time is based on the actual position of the Sun, while mean solar time averages out variations caused by the Earth's elliptical orbit and axial tilt. Clocks and time zones are often adjusted to align with mean solar time for consistency.
